Wow, how about that stock market..and I thought the produce business was tough…
My Uncle Paul told me never invest what you can’t afford to lose..so I’m pretty safe there, because so far I never had that much. Someone else told me to always do what you know, thats real safe, many people get hurt trying to make the fast dollar doing what some fast taking salesman or friend talks them into, only to discover they should have just been faithful  where they were.
I don’t know who told me to do what you love then you never need to go to work, is this true? We all have difficult days, when we want to run, but we need to stay. Talking with my uncle I was surprized at his attitude, even though he lost some money, he said it’s OK , we’ll  find some other deals and in a couple years it will be better… what an example.
I told someone I’d rather lose money selling Tomatoes than doing anything else but that was in my big mouth days we all need to be able to pay our bills. So, rest if you must, do a little reevaluating and be the person God made you to be.
You know what I love to invest in ? My  family and friends and that includes you. Many times I see where I could or should do more, I see the look on your face when someone takes or is selfish, or the look when someone gives or serves you… ahh…the golden rule, yes treat others like you want to be treated. Difficult? Sometimes, but what a reward to see the smile.
The weather here and weather where the produce is grown…brings many challenges to Sam and Caleb to keep it all where it needs to be,FRESH. Sam says he got a great deal for you on cherries, few things are better than those Dark Sweet Cherries. It sounds like Caleb found another load of Watermelons, I can’t beleive how hard it is too get a good watermelon right now.
Sam just brought me a cob of Sweet Corn from Ohio, wow thats good, he thinks it extra good and sweet because it’s from where his fiance from, by the way Sam is getting married 11-11-11 in Ohio.
Dorcas was out of deli for a couple days said she didn’t feel good, today she is here again.Praise the Lord. She is definetly a blessing to us, and knows how to get you what you want. Our DElI has become as popular as our produce, of course we keep it full, friendly, and prices that keep our bottom line very lean. Great Taste, ask for a sample. Great Prices. Great Service.
I don’t know if I should say anything about the Ice Cream it’s to much of a temptation to me when it’s hot and I know I can get an Ice Cream Cone…but you’ll definately love this COOL!
Sam started making Healthy Green Smoothies for us that have like Spinach and Cucumber and I don’t know what all in them and they give you what you need when it’s hot.
Hey, We want to see YOU.
God Bless You all,
Henry Detwiler Sr.

It’s Time for COOL Produce and we have what you want!

What a fun time to eat produce! I love the great selection that’s available this time of year.

What better way to “Cool It” than to eat a Ice Cold WATERMELON or a Juicy Sweet Southern PEACH?

Hey, the other night I went home and got out a bag of frozen CHERRIES that I washed and then put in the freezer the night before.  I didn’t even get a new bag, just used the bag the cherries came in, isn’t that green of me?!?!  Well anyway, I was really enjoying the cold, frozen, natural CHERRIES, the only problem, I had to share with Sam and Vicky!  So they were gone all too soon, but that’s ok, I know where to buy more. Right here at that little Farm Market called Detwilers!!!

Did you here the story of the lady that was at the airport? And I guess she thought she was eating her own cookies as she was reading, you know how it is you forget what your doing…anyway she looked up and she saw the man in the next seat over just reach in and help himself to “her cookies” and she thought how strange.  So she, I’m sure started getting ticked, you know how you do…and he just looked and smiled at her and took the last one.  Later, she was looking in her carry on case and found her cookies!!!  I believe she was glad he couldn’t see her face then!

That’s just the way life is sometimes, you think your doing the right thing minding your own business, but your really eating someone else’s cookies!

By the way, buy your own pack of cookies here. We get them in pretty much everyday from Troyer’s Dutch Heritage.

I don’t know what to tell you about produce…its all so Great right now . The hot dry weather makes the MELONS and CANTALOUPES very sweet. The CORN is really good and sweet and fresh.

Our Famous Florida TOMATOES our just awesome. The Vidalia Sweet ONIONS, I don’t think our quite as nice this year and ONIONS in general are up in price. But what better way to top off a sandwich than a couple slices of SWEET ONIONS, and TOMATOES?

Well its Father’s Day, and I think back to boyhood and my daddy. He grew up on a farm and I don’t think he ever really stopped wanting to be a farmer, but to provide for his family of eight he was a butcher working for his father in-law . Memories…the old John-Deere B, how it would be so hard to start the putt putt.  The new 1255 Oliver, dad would come home from work and go and work on his little farm.  My brothers and I trying to fill the furrow in when he plowed so it would make him spin…his big grin…being scared and crawling into his bed and knowing I was safe. You know it’s hard to admit it, but I didn’t want to be like my daddy I thought I would be a better man, but today I wish I could tell him…I think in a lot of ways he was a better dad than I am.

Dads it a big job isn’t it?  Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Be a Man. Be Faithful. The world needs you. God Bless all you Dads.

Take your dad out for breakfast, or better yet bring him along and get him a Big Double Dip Waffle cone of Big Olaf Ice Cream, he’ll never forget it!!

Sincerely,

Henry Detwiler Sr.
